Peer-to-Peer Solar Energy Trading for Housing Societies

Let apartment complexes with rooftop solar sell surplus power directly to neighboring buildings on the same grid segment, instead of it going back to the discom at a fixed, low buyback rate. Needs a metering and settlement layer, but a few state regulators have already opened the door to peer-to-peer trading.

A Real Utility Bill Comparison Tool

There's no neutral way to compare electricity, LPG, or water providers and plans the way aggregators exist for insurance or loans, largely because most utilities are regional monopolies with no standardized data format. A tool that at least standardizes and surfaces what people already pay, state by state, would make the lack of competition visible - and give reformers real numbers to point to.

Offline-First AI Tutor for the 22 Scheduled Languages

Most ed-tech assumes reliable internet and English fluency. A phone-based tutor that runs core lessons offline, syncs progress when connectivity returns, and teaches natively in a student's own scheduled language rather than translating English content - built for Tier-3 and rural India first, then licensable anywhere with similar connectivity and language diversity.

Standard Data-Exchange API for School Admission Portals

Every school - and in some states, every district - runs a separate online admission portal with its own login and document upload flow, so a parent applying to five schools re-enters the same information five times. A shared data-exchange standard, not a single replacement portal, would let existing systems talk to each other and reuse the same verified documents.

Multi-Language Voice Booking for Indian Railways

IRCTC's booking flow is still primarily text and English-first, but a huge share of railway passengers would rather speak their request in their own language. Voice-driven booking in the major regional languages - not a chatbot bolted onto the existing form - would remove a real barrier for a huge number of travelers.

One Grievance Portal Instead of 30

Every state runs its own grievance redressal portal with a different login, tracking ID format, and escalation process. A citizen who moves states - or just deals with both a state and a central scheme - has to learn an entirely new system each time. A single tracking layer on top of the existing portals, not a replacement, would let one person follow every complaint they've filed, anywhere, in one place.

Live Bus Tracking Beyond the Metros

Real-time public bus tracking exists in Delhi, Bengaluru, and a handful of other big cities, but almost nowhere in Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns where buses are often the only affordable public transport and schedules are the least reliable. The GPS hardware is cheap now - the gap is a shared platform smaller transit authorities can adopt without building their own from scratch.

Modular Telemedicine Kit for Sub-Health-Centres

A ruggedized, low-cost diagnostic kit - vitals, ECG, basic bloodwork - that a minimally trained health worker can operate, paired with a store-and-forward app that queues consultations for the next connectivity window. Designed around India's roughly 1.6 lakh sub-health-centres, with the same hardware and software bundle usable across rural Africa and South Asia.

Offline Mode for Government Scheme Applications

Scheme application portals - PM-Kisan, scholarship forms, ration card updates - routinely time out or lose form data on a weak connection, which is exactly the connectivity most rural applicants have. Let the form be filled offline and submitted as a single sync once a connection is available, the way offline-first apps already work elsewhere.

UPI-Style Instant Settlement Rails for Cross-Border Remittances

India's UPI proved real-time, low-cost payments at national scale. Package that same architecture - real-time settlement plus simple merchant/bank APIs - as a white-label product that Gulf and Southeast Asian central banks can license, starting with the India-to-Gulf remittance corridor that already moves tens of billions of dollars a year through much slower, costlier rails.

Verified Skill-Certification Passport for Workers Going Abroad

A portable, verifiable credential - welding, plumbing, nursing aide, and similar trades - that Indian vocational institutes can issue and that Gulf and Southeast Asian employers can verify instantly, instead of today's patchwork of paper certificates and manual attestation. Built on the same trusted-issuer model as DigiLocker, but designed from the start for cross-border recognition.

Swappable Battery Network for Two- and Three-Wheelers

A standardized, swappable EV battery format with kiosks at existing petrol pumps and kirana stores, so a rider swaps a depleted pack for a charged one in under two minutes instead of waiting hours to charge. Two- and three-wheelers are over 80% of India's vehicle fleet, and the same kiosk model travels well to Southeast Asia and Africa where the vehicle mix looks similar.
