UPI-Style Instant Settlement Rails for Cross-Border Remittances
Submitted by INDDN Team · 2 months ago
India's UPI proved real-time, low-cost payments at national scale. Package that same architecture - real-time settlement plus simple merchant/bank APIs - as a white-label product that Gulf and Southeast Asian central banks can license, starting with the India-to-Gulf remittance corridor that already moves tens of billions of dollars a year through much slower, costlier rails.

This is basically what Wise and Western Union should be worried about. NPCI already has the settlement rails, it's the regulatory piece that's missing.

Cross-border compliance in each destination country is the real bottleneck here, not the tech.
